Australian Eucalypts in Peru

Then the Tour Guide commented on how successful the project had been some years ago to plant Tasmanian Blue Gum to stabilise the slopes. So Eucalyptus globulus is everywhere! There might be another species as well. Couldn’t tell from a bus seat.

On the road to Machu Picchu, there were snow covered peaks framed behind Blue Gums!

Will need to check, but from what I remember, the juvenile form has grey-green, waxy, glaucous leaves and they appeared frequently.

So a little bit of nostalgia, feeling very much at home amongst the eucalypts, but we didn’t see any kangaroos.
